The Cattle Marketing Hall of Fame recognizes individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to competitive marketing and true price discovery.  These men and women are the backbone of the cattle industry.  Their efforts ensure a competitive marketplace, the foundation of the American Cattle Industry.  Without price discovery we become price-takers and lose our way of life.

Mark Mackey

Livestock Marketing Association

A Kansas Native, Mackey grew up in a multi-faceted livestock operation as a livestock and dairy heifer replacement dealer, cattle feeder, and rancher.
 
He attended Kansas State University on an athletic scholarship to play football, graduating in 1982 with a bachelors degree in animal science with an emphasis on business.
 
Devoted to his faith and family, Mark wed his wife Shelly in 1989 and are now blessed with Morgan Mackey Schulze (Kolten), Marisa Mackey Schlogl (Kurt), Maggie Mackey Hilmgren (Ray), Joe Joe Mackey, and Ford Holmgren (Grandson).
 
Mackey began working for LMA in 1983, as a regional executive officer, representing the states of Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska and Wyoming. He also previously served as LMA’s vice president for member sales and services before taking the reigns as Chief Executive Officer in 2004.

As CEO of LMA, Mackey steered the organization into an era of unprecedented membership growth, new service development and policy representation that cemented LMA and its member livestock auction market and dealer businesses as leaders in the industry. Lex Madden

Torrington Livestock Market

Lex Madden was born in Lusk, Wyoming in 1957. Lex was born into a Livestock Marketing Family. Growing up, Lex’s father, Joe Madden, owned and operated the Sale Barns in Lusk and Wheatland, Wyoming. Lex got his start auctioneering in Crawford, Nebraska and Edgemont, South Dakota. Lex went on to attend Chadron State College on a football scholarship and later transferred to the University of Wyoming. In the early 1980's, Lex and Cody Thompson started Thompson/Madden Auctions later to be joined by his brother, Shawn to eventually become Madden Brothers Auctions. Their first major stride was hit when thy sold out Del’s Yellow Hotel Brothel in Lusk, Wyoming. In the late 1980's Lex was employed by LW Maxfield at Torrington Livestock Markets alongside Shawn as an Auctioneer and Ring Man. After years of hard work, Lex and Shawn took control of their own facility at Stockman's Livestock which they successfully ran until merging with Torrington Livestock Markets in 1991.

At which time they entered into partnership with Mike Maxfield and Oliver Dicken. Over the years, Lex and Shawn eventually acquired sole propriety of Torrington Livestock Markets.
